Social entrepreneurship in music: Three case studies from around Europe

“The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them; that’s the essence of inhumanity.”

/George Bernard Shaw/

“We are not in the position in which we have nothing to work with. We already have capacities, talents, direction, missions and callings.”

/Abraham Maslow/

The main value of this webinar is the acquired understanding that there is not just one definition of social entrepreneurship. At the same time the viewer indeed does get practical insights in how to get close. Hopefully the viewer gets inspired by the work of the co-presenters, steps over the theoretic perspective quickly and gets into action!

Learning aims
By the completion of the webinar the audience will be able to:

  • conceptualize the meaning, definition and various forms and processes of social entrepreneurship in the music profession;
  • acquire specific tools and processes regarding the ways of locating a social problem and designing a process to remedy;
  • discuss the problem of defining the terms social and cultural entrepreneurship under the light of different contexts;
  • become familiar and discuss three different examples of musical entrepreneurship around Europe;
  • discuss the strong points and lessons to be learnt from such cases.
