The Youth Committee of the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat looked into the question “What is a festival or competition? And how do these events function?”, identifying different types of events:
A choir festival is an event where choirs and singers gather to sing together in a series of concerts, participate in workshops or other choral activities. A competition is where choirs are evaluated and ranked in a different systems according their singing quality by the choir music experts.
